How to create Excel spreadsheets

We create Excel tables in two ways, by creating a visual table by enclosing a part of the workspace (sheet) or by creating a table object. There are two important periods in the development of Excel, from Office 2003 and from Office 2007 to the present. Since 2007, Microsoft has introduced a table object with a handful of new features.

Data about something (eg people, things, objects) can be recorded narratively, by describing or quoting one after the other in the text in any part of the sentence. Let’s say we want to record the nicknames, names and surnames of our famous actors: Nikolić Gaga Dragan, Vlastimir Đuza Stojiljković, Stole Stojan Arandjelović, Miodrag Čkalja Petrović, Miodrag Slaviša Mali, etc. These can lead us into confusion, not knowing which person’s nickname, first name or last name.

If we organize this data in such a way that we first state the name, nickname and finally the surname for each person and determine a new line for each, we quickly get a precise structure. See text entity and relational integrity for more.

First name Nickname Last name
Dragan Gaga Nikolic
Vlastimir Djuza Stojiljkovic
Stojan Stole Arandjelovic
Miodrag Ckalja Petrovic
Miodrag Mali Slavisa

If we line each piece of data with a line, we get a visual table .

A workspace for creating tables, which in some versions was called Sheets , while in others Worksheets was the basic workspace for creating tables. Although there has been an explosion in the number of excel users since the 2007 version, many still use the workspace as a universal spreadsheet. In it, they would draw lines, bold letters, embed functions and formulas, color cells, and finally print that visual table, which essentially represents the built-in part of the cells in the workspace.

As the number of rows in the workspace increased to a maximum of 1,048,576, a table object appeared in addition to many tools. This happened without advertising and many users did not notice that there is a button with a table image in the Insert toolbar.

After clicking the Table excel button, it recognizes a possible table, ticking it or not if it recognizes that there is a header.

When we create a table, the formed table immediately gets a header, ie. first row with column names and drop-down menu for filters and data sorting.
